Oh no, February is over! And with this last picture of Nick, taking his photo for today, the Foto Feb project also comes to an end. It was great fun and I’m sure I’m going to miss the daily photo upload.
There are a couple of take aways for me from this project:
- My life is far from being boring. On the contrary – on some days I did more than one great thing and took a couple of great photos, so that the decision which one to upload at the end of the day wasn’t always easy. Looking back at all 29 posts I can pretty confidently say that my life is awesome.
- It was great to do a joint blog project with Nick, and to watch April and Jennifer doing the same project in the US and Australia. I also appreciate very much that Kai gave it a try, although his busy schedule often didn’t leave him much time to think about taking a photo during the day and uploading at night. But at least he tried.
- I’m again a little puzzled how little people comment on my posts. When I look at the blog stats I can see that quite a few people read them, and I know how many people even get an automated summary sent via email. And still sometimes I feel like I only write them for myself. Which is fair enough, I’m not complaining, but it’s still a bit weird.
- I want to do it again! I probably need a little break right now, but there is a clear benefit in blogging with a project goal in mind. I already noticed this during the 30 Days of Me, and Foto Feb has confirmed it once again: if you have some guidelines and a set schedule, it’s so much easier to sit down and do it.
- I need to put some effort into my blog’s visual appearance, I think at least some redesign work is more than necessary.
- I should carry my camera with me all the time. There are so many great photo opportunities and it’s so much fun going back and looking at all the adventures again.
Awesome month of photos and I’m glad I decided to participate too! It was heaps of fun, even on the days nothing much exciting happened :)
I have read every one of your Foto Feb blog posts, Diane! This month has been so awesome posting photos along with you and Nick in New Zealand and Jennifer in Australia… so much fun! As I write this, it is still February 29th here. I have no idea what I will post for my last day. Let’s see how the day goes…
p.s. Your life is SO awesome!
Re your statement about people commenting, I notice the same with my blog as well.
I can post something inane on Twitter and get 50 replies, or post some long detailed well-thought-out post and get maybe a comment if lucky.
Yet I know the readership is high and people often tell me they enjoy the content.
So I wonder why people don’t comment and then I do the same thing by not commenting on other people’s blogs…. I think maybe because a comment requires a bit more investment into writing a smart reply, whereas social networks people are happy to reply with “lollololol me too”.
Just a theory anyway.
