I have recently started growing our own sprouts.
They are nutritional stars, because they are fantastic immunity-boosters, high in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, protein, enzymes and fibre. They are also quite expensive if you buy them at Common Sense or Moore Wilson’s. Hence we cleverly invested in a sprouting jar (which I’m sure we could have built by ourselves as well, but buying it was much more convenient) to grow our own whenever we want.
All you need to do is to put some seeds into the jar, leave them soaking in water over night, and from the next day on you just ‘wash’ the seeds/sprouts twice a day through the little mesh at the top. After a few days you’ll have heaps of healthy, yummy sprouts.
Tonight was take-the-sunflower-sprouts-out-and-start-sprouting-broccoli-seeds night. The picture shows the fresh new broccoli seeds bathing in nice cold water.
