World tour – part 3 (Hawaii)

by Diane on 13/10/2012

Final stop of our tour was Hawaii, and by the time we got there, we felt that we had absolutely deserved this holiday.

In my head I had planned out every day of our stay, and filled it with fun activities from morning to evening. But once we arrived the relaxing atmosphere of Hawaii made us stop and enjoy the calmness and we ended up spending heaps of time reading by the pool with a cocktail in hand.

But we weren’t just lazy, we did a few really awesome things:

  • we rented a plane (and an instructor) to fly around and see some of the other islands – this was the bumpiest flight I’ve ever experienced in a small plane and it suddenly made me appreciate the light winds of Wellington I usually complain about
  • we rented a car to explore O’ahu
  • we swam with turtles in Waikiki beach
  • I snorkeled with colourful fish in Hanauma Bay
  • we visited the Bishop Museum and Pearl Harbour

View from the hotel room.

Lazy afternoon.

Kai flying over Honolulu.

Giant portions of shaved ice.

On the way to swimming with turtles.

A turtle swimming by.
