Heute morgen hatte Kai besuch von Hannah. Auf ihrem Weg zu uns kam sie an unserem Lieblingscafe in Karori vorbei, und dachte sich, dass Kai sich bestimmt ueber ein heisses Mitbringsel freuen wuerde. Sie spazierte hinein, fragte: “Wer kennt Kai und wie trinkt er seinen Kaffee?” und spazierte mit einem Trim Latte wieder hinaus. Kai hat sich natuerlich sehr gefreut. Um das nur mal kurz klarzustellen – wir leben hier nicht in einem Dorf in dem jeder jeden kennt, es gibt mehr als nur ein Cafe, sondern in der groessten Suburb Neuseelands, die bereits 2006 mehr als 14.000 Einwohner hatte. Und trotzdem hat es dieses irre gemuetliche Flair…

This morning Hannah came over to our place to visit Kai. On her way she passed our favorite Cafe in Karori and thought Kai would probably appreciate a nice cup of coffee. So she went in, asked: “Who knows Kai and how does he drink his coffee?” and walked out with a trim latte in her hand a few minutes later. Just to clarify – we don’t live in a small village where all people know each other, but in New Zealand’s largest Suburb, which had 14,000 habitants in 2006, and with more than one cafe. But still there’s this cosy feeling about it…
