Wochenende in Australien

Wir waren ueber’s Wochenende in Australien. Genauer gesagt ist Kai schon seit Anfang letzter Woche dort, um vor Ort bei einem Kunden an der Gold Coast (in Southport, bei Surfers Paradise) zu arbeiten. Da ich noch genug Qantas Frequent Flyer Punkte fuer einen Freiflug hatte, habe ich mich am Freitag auf den Weg gemacht, um mit Kai ein entspanntes Wochenende am Strand zu verbringen. Nach Ankunft in Brisbane bin ich in den Gold Coast Train gestiegen und Kai hat mich in Nerang am Bahnhof abgeholt. Waehrend er nochmal kurz ins Buero zurueck gekehrt ist, bin ich in der nahegelegenen Shopping Mall einkaufen gewesen und konnte wieder mal nur staunen, was es in der Welt ausserhalb Neuseelands alles so zu kaufen gibt. Bestueckt mit Mint-M&Ms und Schwarzwald-Weight-Watchers-Riegeln habe ich Kai in der Tiefgarage wieder getroffen und los gings nach Coolangatte, wo wir uns ein nettes Apartmenthotel rausgesucht hatten. Zwar hatten wir fuer australische Verhaeltnisse kein wirklich tolles Wetter, doch die drei Tage mit Einkauf bei Aldi und Ikea, langen Strandspaziergaengen, Geocaching, Tour an den oestlichsten Zipfel Australien (Byron Bay) und ohne Internet waren herrlich entspannend und super erholsam. Jetzt bin ich genug ausgeruht fuer den Sprung in den neuen Job – eine Woche noch, dann geht’s los!

We’ve spent the weekend in Australia. Kai’s there since early last week to work on site (in Southport, close to Surfers Paradise) with a client and because I had enough Qantas Frequent Flyer points for a free flight I joined him for a relaxing weekend at the beach. After arrival in Brisbane I took the Gold Coast train to Nerang, where Kai picked me up at the station. While he went back to the office for a few hours I spent some time at a shopping mall close by and was again surprised about all the stuff that you can actually buy in the world outside of New Zealand. Packed with Mint-M&Ms and Black-Forest-Weight-Watchers-Bars I met Kai again at the car and off we went to Coolangatta, where a nice apartment was waiting for us. The weather wasn’t good (especially for being in Australia), but we had three lovely days with Shopping at Aldi and Ikea, long beach walks, some geocaching, a trip to the most easterly spot of Australia (Byron Bay) and without internet. Very relaxing and refreshing. Now I’m ready to jump into my new job – one more week to go!
